Lynn & Clarke are getting married at the end of the year (one week after I get married!), which made it extra exciting to work on their wedding stationery!
Lynn contacted me via Facebook, and soon afterwards we met in person to discuss what she & Clarke were looking for. A classic, elegant wedding stationery suite incorporating watercolours! I frantically took notes throughout the meeting...
... and discovered Clarke's awesome lettering skills!
After we'd refined the design brief and the initial payment had gone through, I began work!
The hand-made aspects of the stationery were the Song of Solomon verse and the watercolours. I digitised these elements, recoloured them and incorporated them into the stationery.
On the left is the freshly digitised hand lettering. On the right, the finished invitation front, the result of many (many!) tweaks and adjustments. A white 'shadow' was added to the pink words to ensure that they stood out from the background.
Here's a little peek into how I digitised the watercolours for the RSVP card:
A serif font (Baskerville) was used for the majority of the text, to reflect the classic aesthetic Lynn and Clarke were aiming for. And a more relaxed, script font was used to highlight the important words and tie in the more informal watercolours. (By the way - doesn't this menu sound incredible?!)
"Probably because you had just started out with your business, I wasn't sure if you'd had much experience? But I had a look at your work online, plus I'd seen the wedding stationery you'd made for someone else and I loved it! I felt like your style was very similar to my taste, so I knew I wouldn't have a problem conveying what I wanted.
Right from the start, you listened to all my ideas, gave your suggestions, and managed to tie everything together beautifully in a way I never could! Nothing was too hard or a problem for you. Any concerns I had were addressed straight away plus you offered so many helpful tips and suggestions on things I hadn't even thought about! And I'm sure there were times when I was being nitpicky/bridezilla-ish but you were so sweet and patient and managed to put all my fears to rest."
